Doesn’t Record Properly - lost important audio notes

Burned badly by this app: lost more than 5 very important business meeting notes recordings. As it was recording, the app showed it being saved- it even showed how many minutes long the recording was, but then when I went to review the audio files in “Finder", it couldn’t play back because it actually didn’t record- the audio file was 580 bytes for a recording that was 1 hour long (this meant that it didn’t record properly because it’s suppose to be a heck of a lot more than just 580 bytes file size for an audio file that lasts 1 hour long).

Using OS X El Capitan version 10.11.4 on MacBook Pro 2015.
