eXtra Voice Recorder App Reviews

When it works, it is very nice. However, I have had to use the Activity Monitor to kill it after switching from the voice recorder to another app. The app disappears, and double-clicking the app icon does not bring it to the foreground. Also Command-Tabbing does not show the app icon among the active apps; but Activity Monitor does show it. Also, it will sometimes not permit selection of recordings from the list of previous recordings. I have had to quit the app and restart it to re-enable selection. (iMac w/ OS 10.9.4)

With the whole purpose of this app being solely to record audio, you’d think it wouldn’t be too hard. But no, it can’t even do that. After every recording I make, the app clears the information the next time I open my computer with the logs still being there, but the time elapsed being 00:00:00. Thanks for nothing, you “developers”.

Appears to be designed only for iPhone. Can’t swap for other applications. Can’t “quit” once open, so reboot required.

Just downloaded this app and it crashes every time, almost as soon as I open it, even after restarting my computer.

Always crashes….Doesnt even record all of what i want…..worst app ever!!!

I was interviewing someone, when the app decided to crash. It has happened before — very unreliable.

The day 2 recordings have ZERO seconds, it is not recording after pressing record button for important presentations, it shoes 50 min presentation as zero seconds!

I’m recording the replays of a webinar series that I’ve been unable to attend live and am able to orgainize them together under one heading (webinar title). Since it records the sound coming from my computer speakers, there’s some loss of clarity; raising the volume on my computer (below distortion level) improved my ability to understand the finished product. I guess it’s as good as your speakers and ability to keep the room quiet.

TERRIBLE!!! At first it was recording fine. However, for the past few months, its been deleting recording from my class, or not recording them. Or if i have it running and im thinking that its recording and it shows that its recording, as soon as i turn it off, it shows that it recorded 0 seconds. I’ve missed many important notes from lecture because of this stupid app. Thanks a lot!

I got this to record lecture for a difficult class because I am not able to type everything he says. It worked great at first. However, it now stops recording by itself. I have had crucial lectures not be recorded. Very disappointing. Would not recommend to a friend.

I don’t have an I Phone, so I thought I would try this, to record my own notes, etc. for later use, and also, to record and replay my voice as I am practicing for confident public speaking, utilizing an audio course, which I play/pause when I am using the voice recorder. It is excellent !! Very clear and does exactly what it is supposed to. Files are stored and date stamped perfectly. As long as you dont mind lugging around your laptop, you do not need an I Phone or dictaphone if you have this app.

I don’t know if this is due to operator error or a plain old poorly coded app, but this application did not work at all. I tried to record my lectures, and ended up with 50 minutes of silence. A few test recordings were also pure silence. Some, which lasted between 30 seconds and two minutes, were logged as “0 seconds”. I’m deleting the app, and crying becuase now I have no recordings of my lectures.

This should be already on the Mac as a feature. But its a great add-on.

Downloaded app to teach my Parrot new sayings. Recorded for 30 sec then saved as a MP3 file and loop in iTunes. Worked like a charm

i use this app to record lectures from my orgainic chemistry class. So much information and this app lets me record and go back! love this app

Super easy to use. Simple instructions. Saves all my files properly and doesnt stop in between the recordings. I have no complaints. Great app!

Just attempted to record a 1.5 hr lecture. My recording only lasts 36 min. Waste of a download! Has so much potrntial too bad it doesnt work. app developers put all work into paid version and won’t even fix bugs in free.

Im in nursing school and I record my lectures. well this thing has deleted a whole bunch of my recordings. It will say its recording and it will show on the playlist, but when i close the program and try to access my recording, it does not show the recording anymore. like the title is there, but it just has a zero, like nothing was recorded. This happened to me last semester, guess i should of stoped using this dumb thing, but kept using and then this happens again!!! hate this thing i am really disappointed, i really needed those lectures!!!!!!

Burned badly by this app: lost more than 5 very important business meeting notes recordings. As it was recording, the app showed it being saved- it even showed how many minutes long the recording was, but then when I went to review the audio files in “Finder", it couldn’t play back because it actually didn’t record- the audio file was 580 bytes for a recording that was 1 hour long (this meant that it didn’t record properly because it’s suppose to be a heck of a lot more than just 580 bytes file size for an audio file that lasts 1 hour long). Using OS X El Capitan version 10.11.4 on MacBook Pro 2015.
